About Marcia Care & Education
Marcia Care & Education is led by Kyle Woods, who named the company after his Nana, a support worker who gave her body, soul, and ultimately her life, to help look after people. She was an amazing mother and grandmother who left a major impact on Kyle, so he set up this company as an homage to her and the lessons she taught him.
The reason he started the company is because he saw a gap in support being offered to young people and service users with co-morbid diagnoses, who also exhibit mental health related issues. The other aspect of this gap was a lack of support for the family unit when supporting children and young adults with additional needs. Here at Marcia, we try to support the whole family to better support the individual.
Kyle has worked extensively with Local Authorities, maintaining an extensive professional relationship with Lancashire County Council, alongside direct payment & consulting to over 10 other councils across the UK. His experience overseeing specialist placements has helped Local Authorities deliver high-quality, cost-effective alternatives to high-cost independent placements, saving councils significant public funding while improving outcomes for young people.
With over 15 years studying and working in education, and 10 years working within Autism, Kyle has been involved in projects to better understand the individual and to apply a person-centred approach. Marcia is intended to continue this ethos, and extend it to cover the family’s needs, as well as the service users as an individual. To best get a supportive and therefore better opportunity to deliver the best and more relevant education and care possible.

FAQ
What is the maximum number of children you support?
We can directly support 8 young people in Lancashire, covering a whole host of conditions, however we predominantly cater to families in need of support with high functioning autistic conditions. Such as pathological demand avoidance, ADHD and many other conditions.
We would never take on more than 8 young people so we can continue to provide the best levels of education and care.
What approaches do you use to maximise a child’s progress?
In terms of approaches taken, I could explain how we understand Piaget, Kolb and many behaviourists, the PACE model and therapeutic and nurturing approaches. However, the method we use the most is a variant of the warm bath theory by Parsons.
This stipulates that being with family, should feel like stepping into a relaxing warm bath. At Marcia we try to replicate this by getting to know the family, getting to know the child and being supportive of both, working cohesively to understand the best individual method for helping the individual excel.
This will include helping children be more socially and emotionally aware by aiming to extend that safe feeling of his home to the public.
What is your staff to pupil ratio?
One to One - This will start as Adhoc and incidental learning, with the child just feeling comfortable, building relationships slowly within the home. Once the relationship is built up then time can be extended. With an aim to provide 20 hours of social, emotional, and educational support per week (or as the family require)
